Shah Rukh Khan’s Meer Foundation Provides Flood Relief to Affected Families in Punjab
Actor extends support as foundation distributes essential aid to over 1,500 households across four districts
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s Meer Foundation has stepped in to help families affected by the recent floods in Punjab, distributing essential relief kits to support their recovery and rehabilitation. The initiative was announced on Thursday and comes amid one of the worst flood crises the state has faced in decades.
Triggered by heavy rainfall in the catchment areas of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir, the rising levels of the Sutlej, Beas, Ravi, and seasonal rivulets have left large swathes of Punjab inundated. In response, the Meer Foundation—working in collaboration with local NGOs—is providing relief to over 1,500 households across the districts of Amritsar, Patiala, Fazilka, and Ferozepur.
According to a statement from the foundation, the relief kits contain essential items such as food supplies, medicines, hygiene products, mosquito nets, tarpaulin sheets, folding beds, and cotton mattresses. The initiative aims to address the urgent health, safety, and shelter needs of those impacted, while also helping them begin the process of rebuilding their lives with dignity.
Shah Rukh Khan had earlier expressed his concern over the floods in a heartfelt post on X (formerly Twitter). "My heart goes out to those in Punjab impacted by these devastating floods. Sending prayers and strength… The spirit of Punjab shall never break… may God bless them all," the 59-year-old actor wrote.
Fellow actor Salman Khan also spoke about the crisis during a recent episode of *Bigg Boss 19*. “We are doing as much as we can. We have contributed to the relief fund. Even famous singers from Punjab are helping in every way they can, keeping their rivalries aside,” he said. Reports suggest that his Being Human Foundation has dispatched five rescue boats to support ongoing relief efforts.
Meer Foundation, founded by Shah Rukh Khan, has been actively involved in disaster relief and social welfare initiatives across India, with a strong focus on aiding vulnerable communities during times of crisis.
