An Investigative Report by Manjari | New Delhi ! Incredible ! Extraordinary ! Unthinkable ! Even these words fail to capture the scale of negligence in the latest issue of the Government of India’s MSME Ministry magazine “MSME Patrika – Leading, Modern, Self-Reliant”, published in June 2025. After Prime Minister Modi, this time the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, has been made a subject of ridicule !

The magazine carries a blunder so astonishing that publishing history worldwide may have rarely witnessed anything like it. In its very first issue, launched at Delhi’s Vigyan Bhawan on June 27, 2025, the editors printed a photograph of President Murmu releasing the same issue of the magazine within that very issue ! A surreal editorial disaster, this appears to be the first of its kind in the world of editing, printing and mass communication ! What was meant to be dignified turned into a farce — and, many believe, a deliberate attempt to dent the prestige of the President’s office.

When this bizarre and unbelievable mistake came to light, sources revealed that the move was allegedly carried out under tremendous pressure from Dr. Rajneesh, Additional Secretary and Development Commissioner (MSME), who directed the editor and sub editor to proceed in this manner.

The exact responsibility is still under investigation, but what is clear is that whoever orchestrated this has created nothing less than the “eighth wonder of the world.” Unfortunately, it has unnecessarily placed the highest constitutional office — the President of India — in a laughable position !

The bigger question remains: how did this even happen? Even if the printing of the magazine had been broadcast live from Vigyan Bhawan, such an error would have been impossible. Investigations reveal that in a rush to have a copy ready for the release ceremony, a few digital versions of the magazine were hastily printed. Later, when the final batch was sent to press, the very photo of President Murmu releasing the magazine was inserted into that same issue, creating an unprecedented editorial blunder !

Publishing experts point out that the dignity of the President’s office was mocked not once, but three times:

1. When a defective version of the magazine was deceptively presented at the release.

2. When the released version was altered and re-published later.

3. And finally, when the release photo was printed inside the very same issue being released.

The controversy has also dragged MSME Cabinet Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi into unnecessary disrepute. In the release photo, he is seen standing beside the President, holding the contentious magazine. Sources confirm that the minister too was kept in the dark.

With Bihar headed for assembly elections, the episode is being viewed as a calculated bureaucratic conspiracy. Observers fear the opposition could weaponize this blunder to target both the Union government and Minister Manjhi in the upcoming campaign.
