Air India Flight 159 from Ahmedabad to London was cancelled on Tuesday due to a technical issue, leaving numerous passengers stranded at the airport without clear information or assistance.;
Dozens of Air India passengers were left frustrated and stranded on Tuesday after Flight AI159 from Ahmedabad to London was suddenly cancelled without explanation.
“I was supposed to travel to Gatwick on the 1 pm Air India flight, but I’ve just found out it’s been cancelled,” one passenger told ANI. “The crew didn’t tell us why or give any information about a refund.”
This disruption comes just after another Air India flight — AI180 from San Francisco to Mumbai — faced serious delays during a scheduled stop in Kolkata due to a technical snag.
The flight landed in Kolkata around 12:45 am as planned, but a fault in the Boeing 777-300’s left engine prevented it from taking off again. After it became clear that the issue couldn’t be resolved quickly, Air India sought special permission to deplane all passengers.
“Once we realised the snag couldn’t be fixed immediately, clearance was taken from the authorities and all passengers were safely disembarked,” an Air India official told PTI.
For many passengers, the back-to-back disruptions are adding to growing concerns about the airline's reliability, especially on long-haul international routes.
