Samajwadi Party (SP) national president Akhilesh Yadav has alleged that the BJP government is harassing the poor and needy in the name of infiltration in Uttar Pradesh and other parts of the country.

"There is no justification for investigating infiltrators in Lucknow; there are no infiltrators here. In what capacity are BJP leaders and their associates conducting this investigation? If there are infiltrators, what were the Prime Minister, Home Minister and Defense Minister doing all this time? Poor people are being insulted and tormented," he alleged.

Speaking to reporters in Gosaiganj, Lucknow on Friday, Akhilesh Yadav said the public will decisively defeat the BJP in the upcoming elections.

The SP president also raised questions about the list of farmers released in Bihar and the process of obtaining Aadhaar cards and other documents. He asked what action was taken against the officials if the documents were found to be fake. "The BJP is creating fear to divert people's attention from real issues," he said.

He also attacked the "massive scam" involving codeine-based cough syrup. He stated that a major scandal has come to light in Varanasi and several other states. “Initially, it was estimated to be worth Rs 100 crore, but now it could be more than Rs 200 crore. Police, administration and BJP people are involved in this illegal business,” the SP chief alleged.

Akhilesh said many luxury cars were distributed in this illegal trade, but the showroom owners are concealing information about who received these vehicles. “Cars were distributed on a large scale in Varanasi and Jaunpur.”

Taking a dig at the BJP government's bulldozer action, the SP president said earlier the bulldozer was shown as a symbol of justice, but now it is nowhere to be seen. “The greatest injustice has been inflicted upon the PDA (Pichhda, Dalit and Alpsankhyak) community. The bulldozers were only used where the weaker sections of society lived. Now that the illegal businesses have been exposed, the bulldozers are nowhere to be seen. Perhaps the driver is lost or the key has gone missing.”

Akhilesh Yadav accused the BJP of having an anti-constitutional mindset, stating that they do not respect the Constitution. “The SIR (Special Intensive Revision) is actually a form of the NRC (National Register of Citizens). The BJP is playing with people's sentiments.”

He also questioned the central government's economic policies. Referring to the rising value of the dollar and trade challenges, he said that there is a need to seriously consider India's role in world politics. “The Russian President has come here for business, not to help us,”he remarked.
