Amit Shah Lauds NSG’s Bravery, Reaffirms Zero-Tolerance Policy on Terrorism
At NSG’s 41st Raising Day, Home Minister highlights key anti-terror operations, legislative reforms, and structural upgrades to bolster national security and rapid response capabilities.
Home Minister Amit Shah today lauded the force’s unmatched courage of the National Security Guard (NSG) and reaffirmed the Modi government’s unwavering commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against terrorism.
Speaking at the 41st Raising Day celebrations of the National Security Guard Shah highlighted the strategic, legislative and operational initiatives taken by the government to dismantle terrorist networks and safeguard national security.
“From the abrogation of Article 370 to surgical strikes, air strikes, and Operation Sindoor, our soldiers have struck directly at the terrorists’ strongholds. Wherever terrorists hide, our forces have ensured that no place is safe for them anymore,” the Home Minister asserted.
Shah specifically praised Operation Sindoor, where security forces destroyed terrorist headquarters, launching pads and training centres that were once used to plan and coordinate attacks.
He also highlighted Operation Mahadev, in which security personnel precisely neutralized attackers, further boosting public confidence in India’s counter-terrorism capabilities.
“Our troops are determined to go to any length—even to the very depths—to punish every act of terror,” Shah stressed.
Underlining a comprehensive national approach to tackling terrorism, Shah listed key legislative and enforcement reforms saying, “We amended the UAPA (Unlawful Activities Prevention Act) and the NIA Act to strengthen investigative powers. Activated the PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to crack down on terror funding. We have banned the Popular Front of India (PFI) and declared more than 57 individuals and several organizations as terrorist entities. We have strengthened the MAC for coordinated intelligence gathering and initiated the sharing of national data with investigative agencies across the country through CCTV and Netgrid”.
Hailing the NSG's contributions to national security since its inception in 1984, the Home Minister said, “From Operation Ashwamedh to Operation Sarvashakti, Operation Dhangu, the Akshardham Temple attack, and the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, the NSG has repeatedly demonstrated courage and professionalism in the face of grave threats”.
“The entire country feels proud of the NSG’s bravery. Every citizen knows that the nation’s security lies in the safest of hands,” Shah said, extending his best wishes to all NSG personnel.
Shah also highlighted about the significant structural changes to enhance the operational readiness of the NSG mentioning that six NSG hubs have already been established in Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Jammu Task Force and a seventh hub is to be built in Ayodhya, with 24/7 deployment of NSG commandos to ensure rapid response.
The Home Minister also laid the foundation stone for the Special Operations Training Centre (SOTC) (SOTC) — a state-of-the-art facility.
