‘Anti-India in Spirit’: BJP Slams Bhagwant Mann Over ‘One Nation, One Husband’ Remark on Operation Sindoor
BJP Punjab spokesperson Pritpal Singh Baliawal posted the video of CM Mann’s remarks on X, saying, “Bhagwant Mann has crossed all limits!”;

A controversial remark has stirred up a major political storm, with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann facing intense backlash over a comment widely perceived as mocking Operation Sindoor. The statement drew immediate and sharp criticism from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)
Recently, speaking at a press conference, Mann took a swipe at the BJP over reports that the party planned to distribute sindoor to households. With a hint of sarcasm, he asked, “Will you wear sindoor in Modi’s name?” before quipping, “Is this the ‘One Nation, One Husband’ scheme?”
The remark quickly spread on social media, sparking outrage and drawing condemnation from BJP leaders and supporters, who accused Mann of trivialising a military operation and mocking cultural symbols. The phrase “One Nation, One Husband” especially struck a nerve, triggering backlash from political circles and the public alike.
BJP Punjab spokesperson Pritpal Singh Baliawal shared the video clip of Mann’s remarks on X, writing, “Bhagwant Mann crosses all limits! Mocking Operation Sindoor, he shamelessly asks: ‘Will you wear sindoor in Modi’s name? Is this One Nation, One Husband?’”
Baliawal pointed out that Operation Sindoor was a direct response to the Pahalgam terror attack, in which terrorists targeted and killed Hindu civilians—identifying women by their sindoor. He accused Mann of making light of a serious tragedy and of disrespecting both the armed forces and the sacrifices of Veer Naris, the widows of soldiers who lost their lives in service.
“He’s shown zero sensitivity,” Baliawal said, demanding Mann's resignation over what he called a deeply offensive and inappropriate remark.
The backlash wasn’t confined to Punjab. BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari also weighed in, calling the comment “anti-India in spirit.”
“Shameful! Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann ridicules Operation Sindoor. Once again, the opposition shows its true face—disrespecting our armed forces and mocking a successful military operation. If this isn’t anti-India in spirit, what is?” Bhandari said.
As the political fallout from Mann’s remark continues, the controversy has once again highlighted how national security and military operations are increasingly becoming flashpoints in India’s political battles.
