Arunachal Governor KT Parnaik Showcases State’s Cultural, Developmental Links with Gujarat at Bharat Parv 2025
Speaking at the Statue of Unity, Parnaik highlighted shared heritage through the Krishna–Rukmini legend, praised Sardar Patel’s unifying vision, and called for deeper Arunachal–Gujarat collaboration in tourism, energy, and development.
Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt General (Retd) KT Parnaik participated in Bharat Parv 2025 at the iconic Statue of Unity, Ekta Nagar, Gujarat, on Wednesday.
This year’s Bharat Parv holds special significance as the fortnight-long celebration, which commenced on November 1, commemorates the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, whose vision of unity laid the foundation for an integrated India.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor highlighted the deep cultural connections between Arunachal Pradesh and Gujarat, rooted in shared mythology — particularly the story of Lord Krishna and Rukmini.
He said the Madhavpur Fair in Gujarat, which celebrates their divine wedding, serves as a living cultural bridge between the two states, especially as Rukmini is believed to have been born in Bismaknagar, Arunachal Pradesh.
The Governor said Gujarat, the land of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, holds a special place in Arunachal Pradesh’s civic and youth initiatives. “Sardar Patel’s foresight and the decisive steps taken by Major Bob Khating ensured that Tawang remains an integral part of India — a legacy that continues to guide Arunachal Pradesh’s sense of belonging and national pride,” he stated.
Appreciating the contributions of the vibrant Gujarati community in Arunachal Pradesh, the governor said they have truly embodied the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat. He cited the Raj Bhavan’s celebration of Gujarat Foundation Day, where local schoolchildren, including children with special needs, were invited as special guests to experience the colours, traditions, and stories of Gujarat. “Such exchanges”, he said, “are shaping a generation of Arunachali youth who are confident, curious, and connected to India’s cultural diversity.”
Highlighting the developmental strides made by Arunachal Pradesh, the Governor said the state is moving ahead on a confident path under clear vision and committed leadership. He informed that in the last five years, over 4,000 km of roads have been constructed across challenging terrain—improving mobility, strengthening security, and connecting remote communities.
He also emphasised the immense potential of Arunachal Pradesh in tourism—spiritual, cultural, adventure, nature, and eco-tourism—supported by its pristine landscapes and rich heritage.
Emphasising the importance of inter-State collaboration, the Governor said Gujarat’s achievements in cooperative development, dairy management, horticulture, and tourism offer valuable models for Arunachal Pradesh. At the same time, he added, Arunachal brings its own strengths to this partnership — being India’s largest producer of kiwi, a leading grower of mandarin oranges and large cardamom, and a state with vast hydropower potential that positions it as a future contributor to the nation’s clean energy needs.
Calling for a joint partnership between Arunachal Pradesh and Gujarat for mutual benefit and a shared commitment to nation-building, the Governor extended an invitation to the Chief Minister, ministers, and officials of Vibrant Gujarat to visit Arunachal Pradesh. He expressed confidence that such cooperation would further strengthen the national fabric and contribute to a more cohesive and forward-looking India.
