All four individuals arrested in connection with the tragic stampede outside Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium have been remanded to 14-day judicial custody, ANI reported. Among those arrested is Nikhil Sosale, Head of Marketing and Revenue for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

Sosale has now moved the Karnataka High Court, challenging his arrest as "illegal, arbitrary, and not in accordance with the law." His plea comes amid growing legal fallout following the deadly incident.

Earlier in the day, Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) President Raghu Ram Bhat, Secretary A. Shankar, Treasurer E.S. Jairam, and other KSCA officials also approached the High Court seeking to quash the FIR filed against them in connection with the stampede. The court granted them interim protection from arrest.

The stampede took place on the evening of June 4, when a massive crowd gathered outside the stadium for RCB's IPL victory celebrations. The event turned tragic as crowd control failed, leaving 11 dead and 56 injured.

A case was registered at the Cubbon Park Police Station, and the Karnataka government set up a one-member inquiry commission, headed by retired High Court judge Justice John Michael D’Cunha, to investigate the matter, following the incident.

The Karnataka High Court has also taken suo motu cognisance of the tragedy and has directed the state government to submit a status report. The case is scheduled to be heard on June 10.
