Bihar Engineering University (BEU) and the State Board of Technical Education (SBTE) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NASSCOM/IT-ITES Sector Skills Council (SSC) under the Government of India-supported "FutureSkills Prime" program. This agreement will provide students from government engineering and polytechnic colleges in Bihar with the opportunity to receive skills training at global standards in emerging technologies.

The MoU was signed by Dr. Pradeep Kumar, Registrar, Bihar Engineering University, and Dr. Upmith Singh, Chief Operating Officer, Bihar Engineering University. The Honorable Minister, Department of Science, Technology and Technical Education, Mr. Sunil Kumar, Departmental Secretary, Dr. Pratima, Director, Mr. Ahmed Mahmood, and Vice Chancellor, Bihar Engineering University, Prof. Suresh Kant Verma, along with other senior officials, were present.

Under this MoU, students from Bihar Engineering University and government engineering and polytechnic institutes under the State Board of Technical Education (SBTE) will now be able to access the "FutureSkills Prime" digital platform. Through this platform, students will be able to learn industry-relevant skills related to emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, data science, cybersecurity, and cloud computing online, at their convenience, in a phased manner.

During the meeting, the Honorable Minister, Mr. Sunil Kumar, stated that such agreements help connect technical education directly with industry. He stated that digital programs like FutureSkills Prime will provide students from government engineering and polytechnic colleges in the state with the opportunity to train in new technologies. He added that since this is a completely virtual platform, students from government colleges located in rural areas and smaller districts will also receive the same quality training available in major cities and prestigious institutions across the country.

The Honorable Minister clarified that the Department is committed to providing industry-relevant skills and better opportunities to students from technical institutions in the state. A recent agreement with the Information and Library Network (INFLIBNET) Centre, Gandhinagar, will provide students with access to a digital library and research facilities, while the MoU signed today with the NASSCOM/IT-ITES Sector Skills Council will provide online courses and virtual internship opportunities in areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics, Cyber Security, and Cloud Computing, developing global skills and improving their employment opportunities.

Detailing the MoU, Department Secretary Dr. Pratima stated that government engineering and polytechnic colleges in Bihar already offer advanced and industry-relevant curriculum. This new MoU will provide students with the additional benefit of online courses, virtual internships, foundation courses, and deep-skilling programs in areas such as AI, Data Analytics, Cyber Security, and Cloud Computing on the FutureSkills Prime digital platform.

Following the MoU, the department will appoint a nodal officer in each college to help connect students with the program and ensure the quality of training. Along with this, through regular workshops and orientation programs, students and teachers will be trained in a phased manner to take maximum advantage of the digital platform.
