Bihar Agriculture Dept reviews Kharif crop, seed distribution and subsidy schemes

Principal Secretary Pankaj Kumar directs timely execution of farmer applications, stresses transparent delivery of benefits.

A state-level monthly review meeting was organized today in the auditorium located at Krishi Bhawan, Patna under the chairmanship of Shri Pankaj Kumar, Principal Secretary, Agriculture Department, Bihar. Agriculture officers of all divisions and districts attended this meeting. In the meeting, major issues like coverage of Sharadiya (Kharif) crop, status of data upload on Bihan app, diesel subsidy, contingency crop plan, rainfall status and agricultural input subsidy were discussed in detail.

The Principal Secretary directed the officials to execute all the applications related to agricultural inputs on time.

 

He said that the objective of seed distribution is to make seeds available to the farmers on time as well as its effect is reflected on the increase in production and productivity of crops. Therefore, the seed scheme will be reviewed after the crop season on the basis of coverage and production data.

Various schemes of the financial year 2025-26 were reviewed in the meeting. These included digital crop survey, seed distribution, millets seed distribution, Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana, seed treatment, soil treatment, plant protection, natural farming, Krishi Sakhi training, Dhaicha seed distribution program and traditional agriculture development scheme. Apart from this, availability and distribution of concrete vermi peat unit, cow dung/biogas unit, organic fertilizer and chemical fertilizer were also reviewed.

The Principal Secretary also directed that the demonstration of seeds should be ensured in the farms of the Agriculture Department, so that farmers can get information about improved seeds and new technology in a practical way.

He said that the main objective of the government is to ensure that the benefits of all the schemes reach the farmers transparently and on time, so that farming becomes more profitable and there is a continuous increase in the income of the farmers.

On this occasion, Managing Director, Bihar State Seed Corporation Ltd. Shri Nirmal Kumar, Agriculture Director Shri Nitin Kumar Singh, Joint Secretary Shri Manoj Kumar and senior officials of the headquarters and regional offices were present.
