Bihar Announces Free Electricity Up to 125 Units: 1.67 Crore Families to Benefit from August 1

Now 125 units of electricity will be provided free of cost to the common people in the state. People will have to pay electricity bill only after this prescribed limit. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has given this information by posting related to this on his social media account. The state government has also called a special cabinet meeting on Friday. There is a possibility of approval of the proposal related to this.
After this, this facility will be implemented across the state. The Chief Minister has written on his post that we have been providing electricity to everyone at cheap rates since the beginning. Now it has been done that from August 1, 2025 i.e. from the bill of the month of July, all the domestic consumers of the state will not have to pay any money for electricity up to 125 units. This will benefit a total of 1 crore 67 lakh families of the state. It has been decided that in the next three years, after taking consent from all these domestic consumers, solar power plants will be installed on the roofs of their houses or at the nearest public place. CM has written that under Kutir Jyoti Yojana, the state government will bear the entire cost of setting up solar power plants for the extremely poor families and the government will also provide proper support for the rest. Due to this, domestic consumers will now not have to spend anything for up to 125 units of electricity. Also, on the basis of an estimate, up to 10 thousand MW of solar energy will be available in the state in the next three years.
This is the first time in Bihar, when common people are going to get 125 units of electricity free. After this announcement of the Chief Minister, the Energy Department has started its preparation. A wide-scale brainstorming has started on what rate will be applicable per unit of electricity after 125 units. All the things related to this will be presented and passed in the cabinet. After this, this new facility will be implemented across the state.
