Bihar Chief Secretary Orders Crackdown on Land Mafias, Arms Dealers Ahead of Assembly Elections
Special cells to be formed at SP level; arms license verification expedited as officials review law and order preparations;

In view of the upcoming assembly elections, Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena held a review meeting to maintain law and order and prepare for law and order. He said that strict action should be taken against land mafias and smugglers by gathering all information related to them. For this, a special cell should be formed at the Superintendent of Police level and information about criminals should be collected from various offices. Attach all the notorious criminals who are absconding and arrest them by running a comprehensive campaign. He directed to speed up the arrest of criminals, check vehicles, conduct continuous raids against illegal liquor, identify notorious criminals and take strict action against them by imposing CCA.
The Arms Act culprits will be curbed
The Chief Secretary asked to speed up the verification of arms licenses and arms shops in all the districts before the elections. Director General of Police Vinay Kumar asked to take strict action against the Arms Act culprits by issuing notices within a month. He asked to cancel the licenses of guilty arms dealers. He said that if prompt action is not taken in such cases, then its consequences are seen in other cases. Also, expressing concern over the pending cases of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe cases, he directed the Superintendent of Police to run it in mission mode at his level and speed up the checking of vehicles during peak hours.
Review of arrangements at polling stations
Mr. Meena directed the officials of Supaul, Katihar, Purnia, Madhepura, Saharsa, Araria and Kishanganj districts to ensure timely facilities like drinking water, toilets, electricity, furniture, ramps at all polling stations. All arrangements should be in order in the buildings identified for the stay of paramilitary forces (CAPF) during the elections. Chief Electoral Officer Vinod Singh Gunjiyal, Additional Chief Secretary of Home Department Arvind Kumar Chaudhary, Director General of Police Vinay Kumar, Additional Director General of Police (Headquarters) Kundan Krishnan and others were present in the meeting.
