Bihar Govt Directs Weekly Grievance Hearings to Ensure Quick Redressal of Power Consumers’ Issues
Under Saat Nischay–3, energy officials will hear consumer complaints every Monday and Friday, while HT/LTIS consumers’ issues will be addressed through a weekly Open House meeting in Patna.
Under the seventh resolution of Saat Nischay–3, “Sabka Samman – Jeevan Aasan (Ease of Living)”, Energy Department Secretary and Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Bihar State Power Holding Company Limited, Shri Manoj Kumar Singh, on Monday held a video conference meeting with officials of all supply circle offices to ensure speedy redressal of electricity consumers’ grievances. During the meeting, he directed all officers to mandatorily remain present in their offices every Monday and Friday to hear consumer complaints and resolve them.
The meeting was attended by Shri Mahendra Kumar, Managing Director of South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited, Shri Rahul Kumar, Managing Director of North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited, along with other senior officials.
As per the directions, all circle offices have been instructed to hear electricity consumers’ grievances on Mondays from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM and on Fridays from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM. This arrangement will come into effect from 19 January 2026.
Energy Secretary Shri Manoj Kumar Singh instructed all concerned officials to remain present in their respective offices, meet consumers respectfully, listen to their complaints sensitively, and ensure prompt resolution. All offices must also provide proper seating arrangements and essential facilities such as drinking water and toilets for consumers. He further directed that all complaints received from consumers be formally registered and resolved at the earliest.
To ensure speedy resolution of electricity-related issues of HT/LTIS consumers, the Bihar Government has taken another initiative. Under this, the Open House Meeting, earlier held on Thursdays, will now be organized every Friday at Vidyut Bhawan, Patna. The meeting will be held from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM. The Open House Meeting will be attended by the Energy Department Secretary, Managing Directors of both DISCOM companies, and all senior officials.
The Energy Secretary stated that through this initiative, the problems of industrial consumers and investors will be resolved swiftly and in a respectful manner.
