Bihar Launches First-Ever State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament Tomorrow
Over 250 players from 17 districts to compete as Padma Shri Sharath Kamal attends as special guest;

The 'First Bihar State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament', organized for the first time in Bihar under the joint aegis of the Sports Department, Bihar State Sports Authority and Bihar Table Tennis Association, is starting tomorrow, June 19.
Giving information about this, Director General cum Chief Executive Officer of Bihar State Sports Authority, Ravindran Shankar said that this competition is being organized from June 19 to 22 in the Indoor Stadium of Patliputra Sports Complex. More than 250 players from 17 districts of Bihar are participating in it. This competition is being held in Boys, Girls Singles and Men's, Women's Singles in the age group under 11, 13, 15, 17, 19.
Further, Mr. Shankar said that there will be 4 State Ranking and one Bihar State Championship competitions in a year. In these five competitions, the first five players scoring the highest marks by combining the marks of the winning players will be selected for the Bihar State Table Tennis team, which will represent the state in national competitions.
Internationally renowned table tennis player Padma Shri Sharad Kamal will also be present as a special guest in this competition. During the tournament and under his guidance, talented players will be selected by experienced and skilled selectors who will later be prepared as national and international level players through better training. This competition is a golden opportunity for the players of Bihar to showcase their talent.
All the arrangements for accommodation, food and all basic facilities for all the players participating in the competition are being made by the government and the Sports Authority.
The 17 districts from which players are participating are Araria, Saharsa, Gaya, Darbhanga, Khagaria, Muzaffarpur, West Champaran, Madhubani, Samastipur, Purnia, Madhepura, Bhagalpur, Nalanda, Supaul, Saran, Bhojpur and Patna.
Shankaran said that as a positive effect of the Bihar government's commitment and efforts for the all-round development of sports and players, Bihar is constantly touching new heights in the field of sports at the national and international level. Therefore, every sport in the state is being promoted with full cooperation and dedication in which the players of Bihar have the possibility of winning medals at the national and international level.
