Bihar Police Deploy New BNSS Powers to Seize Criminal Black Money
Section 107 enables DSP-level officers to confiscate illegal wealth, bypassing previous ED bottlenecks;

Now, criminals who have earned immense wealth from the world of crime are in trouble. Such criminals who have earned immense wealth through crime and have been using it to prove themselves innocent in the court, now even their illegal wealth will not be able to prove them innocent. The state police headquarters has made Section 107 of the Indian Civil Security Code (BNSS) its main weapon to seize the black money of such criminals.
Bihar Director General of Police Vinay Kumar said that any police officer or personnel involved in corruption will not be tolerated under any circumstances. If any police officer or personnel demands bribe from any person, then a complaint can be lodged in the Surveillance Investigation Bureau, Special Surveillance Unit, Economic Offenses Unit or directly in the State Police Headquarters. He said that to punish the criminals for their deeds, a proposal has been prepared by the State Police Headquarters to constitute fast track courts in the districts. By setting up fast track courts in all the districts of the state, not only is a system being made to give immediate punishment to the criminals for their deeds, but innocent people as well as victims will also get immediate justice. He said that a total of 100 fast track courts will be set up in the entire state.
State Director General of Police Vinay Kumar was addressing a press conference organized at the State Police Headquarters located at Sardar Patel Bhawan on Monday. He said that before the implementation of BNSS across the country in July last year, a lot of hard work had to be faced in confiscating the black money of such criminals. But now this work has become easier due to the new provisions added in the law. Earlier, action had to be taken at the level of Enforcement Directorate (ED) for this. Due to the busy schedule of ED, a lot of problems were faced in confiscating the property of criminals. Now DSP level police officers have got this power, so that they themselves can give a proposal to the courts to confiscate the black money of criminals. He said that there are a total of 1249 police stations in the state. A total of 1172 criminals have been identified in these police stations to confiscate the property of such professional criminals. He said that out of the identified criminals, proposals have been received by the sub-divisional police officers against 239 criminals and the process of confiscating their property has been started. Out of these, proposals have been submitted in the courts against 188 criminals. He said that the new law also has a provision to provide financial assistance to the families affected by the property of criminals.
Complain fearlessly against corrupt police personnel
The DGP said that complaints of corruption are often received from the police stations. Whereas the Police Headquarters is committed to the policy of zero tolerance towards corruption. He said that if any police officer or personnel demands bribe in the name of helping in any case, then a complaint can be made to the Vigilance Investigation Bureau, Special Vigilance Unit, Economic Offences Unit or directly to the State Police Headquarters. He said that corrupt policemen will not be spared at any cost. He said that between January and 12 June this year, a total of a dozen police officers have been arrested red-handed taking bribe by the Vigilance Bureau. Not only this, cases have been registered against 22 police personnel in various districts of the state between January and May this year. Out of these, a total of 15 police personnel have been arrested and the case has been forwarded to the court. Apart from this, suspension action has been taken against a total of 66 police personnel.
