Bihar Police Meets 2026 Passport Verification Target Ahead of Time, Average Turnaround Down to 9 Days

The Regional Passport Office, Patna, had set a target of completing police verification reports in less than 10 days in 2026. Bihar Police achieved this target early in the year. It is heartening to report that in December 2025, the average time taken to complete and submit police verification reports for passports in Bihar was 9 days, while 95% of reports were submitted within 15 days.

It is worth noting that police verification is generally a crucial step in passport issuance, after which a passport is issued. From Bihar's perspective, this is a significant achievement. While previously passport verification reports took months to arrive, with the launch of the m-Passport Police app by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, police reports are being received in less time, and passports are being issued to applicants more quickly.

This goal has been achieved due to the hard work of the Special Branch and all the district police, and the continuous training and interactive programs being conducted by the Regional Passport Office at the district and police station levels to provide better passport related services. Bihar Police was selected as one of the best state police for passport and related services verification at the Passport Seva Pariyojana Conference organized by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India in New Delhi on June 24, 2025.

In achieving this goal, Kaimur district is at first place, Khagaria district at second place and Sheohar district at third place on behalf of the district police. Furthermore, all the districts have contributed their full efforts in the month of December.
