Bihar is moving fast on the path of progress but dry addiction is becoming a hindrance in it. It has become a canker for the society, so it is very important to end it. These things were said by Bihar's Social Welfare Minister Madan Sahni on the occasion of International Drug Abuse Prevention Day.

In a program organized by the Social Welfare Department in the Convention Bhawan located in the old secretariat complex of Patna, departmental minister Madan Sahni said that drug addiction is pushing especially the youth towards destruction, so there is a great need to open de-addiction and rehabilitation centers in every district to deal with this challenge. He said that the atmosphere of Bihar has changed and now there is no ruckus on the squares and intersections, but still programs should be organized at the panchayat level to make the youth aware.

At the same time, Social Welfare Department Secretary Bandana Preyashi said that according to the survey conducted by the Government of India in the year 2018, there were about 17.5 lakh drug users in Bihar, who used cannabis, ganja, hashish as well as opium, smack and brown sugar. Information is also being received that drug addicted youths are also eating bread after applying Iodex on it, which has to be taken seriously. To save the youth from drug addiction, the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction campaign is going on in every district by the department. To curb this, students will be made aware in every school-college so that the youth can be stopped before they take a step towards drug addiction.

Drug abuse is fatal for the society

Abhishek Anand, Zonal Director of Narcotics Control Bureau said that drug abuse is fatal for the society. He expressed concern over the increasing misuse of drugs among the youth and said that there is a dire need to stop the first step of the youth moving towards drug addiction. At the same time, Superintendent of Police of Prohibition Rajesh Kumar said that after the prohibition of liquor, people's inclination towards dry drugs has increased, which is quite worrying. Along with solution, injections are also being consumed, which is very dangerous. Youths are dying due to overdose of drugs.

Manoj Kumar Singh, Co-ordinator of Sister Nivedita Memorial Trust, De-addiction Centre, Patna said that drug addiction is a disease and its treatment is possible. It is very important to make people aware about it. At the same time, NMCH doctor Santosh Kumar said that it is a biological disease. Like diabetes and blood pressure, it is a disease that comes and goes, so the youth have to be careful.

In this program, departmental minister Madan Sahni also launched a comic book. During this, a short video was also presented. While making people aware about drug addiction, 'Prahari Sanstha' also presented a street play. At the same time, students who came first in painting and essay competition were also awarded.
