Bihar Reviews DPRs Worth ₹33,464 Crore for 52 National Highway Projects
Under the chairmanship of Pankaj Kumar Pal, the Road Construction Department, Bihar reviewed DPRs for 52 major National Highway projects, directing officials and consultants to speed up preparation while ensuring quality and future readiness.
Under the chairmanship of Mr. Pankaj Kumar Pal, Secretary, Road Construction Department, a comprehensive review of the progress of DPRs (Detailed Project Reports) for National Highway projects was conducted today in the departmental meeting room. The DPRs of a total of 52 projects (total cost: ₹33,464 crore) were thoroughly reviewed, of which 36 projects are being prepared by the NH wing, 14 by BRPNNL, and 2 by BSRDCL.
Senior department officials, project consultants, and other relevant officials were present at the meeting.
Some of the projects:
Samastipur Bypass (approximately 9.8 km) – crucial for reducing traffic congestion and improving connectivity in the city.
Development of both lanes of Vikramshila Setu (NH-131B) (approximately 15 km) – to strengthen regional connectivity.
Anisabad-AIIMS Elevated Corridor (approximately 7 km) – An elevated project to provide better connectivity to AIIMS and other areas in Patna.
Aurangabad Four-Lane Bypass (approximately 9.8 km) – To alleviate the city's chronic traffic congestion.
Singheshwar Bypass (11.27 km) in Madhepura district – To promote local connectivity and development.
Kamala River Bridge (on a 4-lane road, NH-227 (old NH-104), approximately 2 km) – An important project to facilitate traffic flow.
During the review, the Secretary observed that the DPR preparation process for some projects was not progressing as expected. He issued several guidelines regarding the DPR to the project consultants and concerned officials present at the meeting. He urged them to prepare the DPR with special attention to timeliness while ensuring its quality.
The Secretary clarified that any obstacles encountered in preparing the DPR should be immediately reported to higher levels so that they can be resolved quickly. The DPR should also take into account other future projects. These projects are crucial for the state's connectivity, economic development, and public amenities.
