Linking technical education in Bihar with innovation and quality, a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed today between Bihar State Board of Technical Education (SBTE) and the prestigious Spoken Tutorial Project of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mumbai. The agreement was concluded under the leadership of SBTE Secretary Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh and aims to provide technical skill training (Upskilling) to lakhs of students studying in polytechnic and engineering colleges of Bihar.

This MoU has been done under the nationally acclaimed Spoken Tutorial Initiative of IIT Mumbai, which has been designed keeping in mind the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP-2020) and Skill India Mission of the Government of India. Under this program, students will be provided free online video based training in various modern software tools like Python, Java, C++, LinuX, LaTeX, LibreOffice, MySQL, PHP, Blender, GIMP etc., which will be available in multilingual (Hindi, English and other Indian languages).

Through this agreement, students in all the institutions affiliated to SBTE will be able to get self-motivated digital learning, online testing, and national level certificate, which will increase their employability skills unprecedentedly.

Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh, Secretary, SBTE Bihar said on this occasion-

This agreement is a transformative initiative for Bihar in the field of technical education. Our aim is not limited to only degree, but to make students equipped with practical knowledge and modern technical skills, so that they can compete at national and global level. With the help of Spoken Tutorial, students will be able to access high level content at low cost, making practice based learning accessible.

This agreement will not only benefit the students but will also act as a value addition program for faculty members and technical institutions. Under the program, local coordinators will be appointed in the institutes who will assist the students in the registration, training and assessment process.

SBTE has ensured that the reach and implementation of Spoken Tutorial will be made mandatory in all the government polytechnic and engineering institutes of the state in the next six months.

Key Benefits

• Online assessment and certification by IIT Mumbai

• Accessible learning for students from offline and rural areas

• Employment oriented course content and practice based learning

This MoU will prove to be a milestone towards empowering the technical education scenario of Bihar and preparing the students for the fourth industrial revolution.
