Labour Resources Minister of Bihar Government, Shri Santosh Kumar Singh has today strongly welcomed the decision of Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar to make a historic increase in the Social Security Pension Scheme. He called it a revolutionary step towards economic support and respectable life for the elderly, disabled and widowed women of Bihar. He said that the elderly, disabled and widowed women of all castes, religions, classes and communities will get the benefit of social security pension equally, which will also increase their respect in society and family. No one will look at them with inferiority or abandonment and there will be a vast change in their standard of living. This pension reflects the efficiency of the NDA government.

Minister Santosh Kumar Singh said that Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar has proved under his visionary leadership that social justice and sensitive administration is not just in slogans, but in decisions visible on the ground. He said that till now the beneficiaries used to get a pension of ₹ 400 per month, whereas now they will get an amount of ₹ 1100 per month, which is an increase of almost three times. He said that 1 crore 9 lakh 69 thousand 255 beneficiaries will get direct benefit of this decision and this amount will be transferred directly to their accounts on the 10th of every month.

The minister called it a historic decision that will bring change in the lives of every deprived section of the society. He said that this decision reflects the welfare thinking of the state government and its commitment towards public concerns. Especially for the elderly, widows and disabled citizens, this financial assistance will strengthen their sense of self-reliance and they will not have to depend on anyone for medicines, food and daily needs.

Labor Minister Santosh Kumar Singh further said that many important schemes are also being run by the Labor Resources Department of the Bihar Government to improve the lives of workers. Bihar State Building Construction Workers Welfare Board is providing benefits to the workers of the state from birth to death. Under this, a total of 16 public welfare schemes including Shramik Accident Assistance Scheme, Social Security Insurance Scheme, Maternity Benefit Scheme, Housing Construction Assistance Scheme are being run, through which the workers of Bihar are now becoming even stronger.

Apart from this, demand based skill training has been arranged by the department for the youth of the state, so that they can be linked to employment opportunities. He said that these schemes of the government are not limited to papers only, but are bringing change in the lives of lakhs of working families.

Minister Santosh Kumar Singh finally said that this initiative of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar strengthens the model of social justice and inclusive development, which is being cited as an example across the country today. The increase in social security pension is a historic decision and it will ensure that no elderly, disabled or widow woman of Bihar is neglected due to financial constraints. This initiative will not only give them financial security, but will also bring back dignity and confidence in life.
