Bihar’s First Cable Suspension Bridge Nears Completion on Punpun River

Built at a cost of ₹829.9 crore on the lines of Rishikesh’s Laxman Jhula, the 320-metre bridge will ease pilgrim access to Punpun Pind-daan Sthal and boost local trade.

A cable suspension bridge similar to the Laxman Jhula in Rishikesh has been completed on the Punpun River near the city of Punpun in Patna. The construction work is nearly 99 percent complete and will be opened to the public in a few days.

This bridge is 320 meters long, with an 11.50-meter cable suspension bridge that connects both banks of the river near the pind-daan site in Punpun. It is a unique type of bridge in Bihar. According to information from the Road Construction Department, the construction of this specially designed cable bridge began on August 31, 2019. The initial cost was 467.7 million rupees.

Later, the cost was increased to 829.9 million rupees.

Regarding this matter, the state's Road Construction Minister Nitin Nawin stated that the construction of this special type of bridge is nearly complete and will soon be opened to the public. It is a remarkable example of modern engineering.

Specialty of this cable bridge:-

- This is Bihar's first cable suspension bridge built for light vehicles

- The number of cables in it is 18

- The length of the suspension deck is 120 meters

- The length of the duct is 200

- The length of the approach path is 135 meters

- The height of the pylon is 100 feet
