BJP Releases Second List for Bihar Polls; Folk Singer Maithili Thakur to Contest from Alinagar
The party announced 12 more candidates, including former IPS officer Anand Mishra, as part of its 93 declared nominees; BJP says cultural icons will bring new energy to the Mithila region.
As the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections approach, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released its second list of candidates. The party has announced the names of 12 candidates, including popular folk singer Maithili Thakur from the Alinagar assembly seat in Darbhanga district.
The announcement was made at a press conference held at the party headquarters, where BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal said, "The NDA's unity is a commitment to providing a strong government to the people of Bihar. Having a cultural icon like Maithili Thakur join us will bring new energy to the Mithila region."
Other prominent candidates in the BJP's second list include a former IPS officer and a current MLA.

With the release of the second list, the BJP has announced a total of 93 candidates. The first list included 71 names. Only eight candidates remain to be announced. The third list will also be released in a day or two.
As per the NDA's seat sharing, the BJP and JDU have been allotted 101 seats each, the LJP (Ram Vilas) 29, the Rashtriya Lok Morcha 6, and the Hindustani Awam Morcha 6. The JDU released 57 names in its first list, while the opposition Grand Alliance (RJD-Congress-Left) is still disagreeing on the seat sharing.
According to the Election Commission, voting for Bihar's 243 assembly seats will be held in two phases on November 6 and 11, while the counting of votes will take place on November 14.
