He said that since the new government was formed on 24 November, 2005, there is rule of law in the state and the state government is continuously engaged in development work. Everyone knows what was the situation in the previous government before our government was formed. People did not come out of the house after evening. The law and order situation was bad. On 24 November 2005, when the new government was formed in the state, the number of police personnel working in Bihar Police was very less. At that time, the number of sanctioned police personnel was about 51 thousand. Against this, only 42 thousand 481 police personnel were working.
The Chief Minister said that we have been saying from the beginning that the number of police force in the state should be increased further. For this, the number of police force was continuously increased since the year 2006. In the year 2013, 35 percent reservation for women in the police was implemented. In the year 2022, the number of police force in the state increased to 1 lakh 10 thousand. In the program of Police Week in the year 2023, we increased the number of police force in the state to 2 lakh 29 thousand. After this, the work of police recruitment is being done rapidly in Bihar to fill all these posts. Out of these, 55 thousand posts are being filled by the Home Department by giving promotion. Apart from this, the work of direct recruitment on 64 thousand posts is going on rapidly.
The Chief Minister said that I am happy that the work of direct recruitment of 21 thousand 391 constables has been completed, who are being given appointment letters today. After today's recruitment, the number of women in Bihar Police has now increased to about 36 thousand which is more than any state in the country. This is a matter of pride for all of us. The women police personnel who are already working are discharging their responsibilities well. It is expected from the newly appointed male and female policemen that they will perform their duties with full devotion and discipline. He said that now after this, work has been started on the recruitment of 42 thousand 609 constables. Out of these, the written examination for recruitment on 19 thousand 838 posts is being held in the next month of July. Our wish is that after this, the work of recruitment on the remaining 22 thousand 771 posts should also be done rapidly.
The Chief Minister said that we have instructed the officers that the police should not lack any kind of resources. For this, vehicles have been provided in all the police stations so that the policemen do not face any problem in commuting. Buildings have been built for police stations everywhere. Whatever need will be there in future will also be fulfilled.
The Chief Minister said that you all should work well. The public praises the police who does good work. Bihar Police has done good work. He said that whoever does wrong, do not spare him. Deal strictly with those who commit crime. On this occasion, I wish you all the best for the future. All of you keep smiling and be happy. I hope that all of you will discharge your responsibilities well.
