Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to New Delhi.

Yogi Adityanath is in the national capitalfor a series of high-level meetings with the Bharatiya Janata Party’s central leadership, including party working president Nitin Nabin, as the organisation undertakes a review of its political and organisational strategy.

He also met PM Modi.

The meeting was confirmed by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) through a post on social media platform X, which read: “Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Shri @myogiadityanath met Prime Minister @narendramodi.” While no official details were shared, sources said the interaction covered key development initiatives, governance-related issues and the broader political roadmap.

CM Yogi held talks with PM for around a hour and the CM presented a replica of Ram Temple to PM.

Sources also hinted that CM Yogi also discussed about the ongoing SIR process with PM.

The visit is being seen as significant at a time when the BJP is reassessing its organisational strength and future direction, particularly in UP.

According to sources, the discussions with senior party leaders are expected to focus on organisational matters, the prevailing political situation in the state, forthcoming electoral strategy and coordination between the Centre and the state government. Strengthening internal communication and ensuring closer alignment between the state leadership and the party’s central command are also key objectives of the meetings.

CM Yogi’s visit comes amid heightened political activity within the BJP as it steps up preparations for upcoming programmes and works to further consolidate its organisational base.

In the past, the chief minister has frequently used his visits to the capital to hold consultations with senior leaders on both administrative and political issues.

The party leadership has also been receiving regular feedback and complaints from office-bearers and MLAs regarding administrative functioning. Managing discontent among legislators has emerged as an important task for the chief minister, especially after the BJP suffered a setback in UP during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Since then, efforts have been underway to reach out to dissatisfied leaders and rebuild internal cohesion.

In recent weeks, CM Yogi’s frequent meetings with BJP MLAs from different regions of the state are being seen as part of this exercise. Against this backdrop, political circles are abuzz with talk of possible changes in the state’s political and organisational setup.

Sources said that apart from the Prime Minister, Yogi Adityanath is also expected to meet BJP national president JP Nadda and working president Nitin Nabin during his visit. The trip has gained added importance as both Deputy Chief Ministers—Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak—are also in Delhi. Earlier on Monday, Brajesh Pathak met Nitin Nabin, adding to the political buzz.

According to party sources, discussions are underway on filling vacant ministerial positions, with possibilities ranging from the induction of new faces to changes in portfolios of existing ministers. A final decision is expected after consultations with the party high command.

Overall, CM Yogi Adityanath’s Delhi visit is being closely watched, as it is likely to have a bearing on the political and administrative course of UP in the months ahead.
