Congress Gears Up for 2027 Uttar Pradesh Battle with ‘Parivartan Pratigya’
Launching a 100-day action plan on Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s birthday, the Congress aims to challenge the Yogi Adityanath government through mass outreach, grassroots campaigns, and statewide mobilization ahead of the Assembly elections.
Once again, the “hand” symbol and the name of Priyanka Gandhi are set to resonate across Uttar Pradesh’s political landscape.
After drawing fresh energy from its improved performance in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the Congress party has now firmly set its sights on the 2027 Assembly elections and the coveted chief minister’s chair in Lucknow.
To challenge Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s stronghold, Congress has prepared an aggressive 100-day action plan, the launch of which will coincide with Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s birthday on January 12.
The party believes that this strategy, centered around mass outreach and grassroots issues, could create ripples across the state.
This year, Priyanka Gandhi’s birthday will be more than a ceremonial event for the party. The Uttar Pradesh Congress has decided to organise large-scale programs across all 18 divisions of the state on January 12. Senior party leaders will hold press conferences at divisional headquarters, unveiling the roadmap for the next 100 days.
The action plan has been named “Parivartan Pratigya” (Pledge for Change), aimed at conveying a clear message to the public that Congress is fully prepared to re-enter the political battlefield with renewed strength. The plan goes beyond announcements. Congress has charted out at least 30 major rallies across the state.
In addition, the party will organise “Samvidhan Samvad” (Constitution Dialogues) rallies and local meetings in villages and urban neighborhoods.
Key focus areas include employment-related issues, irregularities in the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), and SIR-related concerns.
According to UP Congress in-charge Avinash Pandey and state president Ajay Rai, unemployment and flaws in MGNREGA implementation have caused widespread dissatisfaction, particularly in rural areas. Party workers will conduct door-to-door outreach to mobilize public support and build a strong base well before 2027.
Political circles suggest that Congress is leaving nothing to chance this time. From panchayat elections and MLC polls to the final showdown in the 2027 Assembly elections, the party has begun preparations early.
In a coordination committee meeting attended by senior leaders, including Aradhana Mishra ‘Mona’, it was clearly stated that the time has come to take the BJP government head-on, both politically and on the streets.
The party leadership believes that the momentum generated by Priyanka Gandhi’s active role in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections can be replicated in the 2027 Assembly polls. As the campaign kicks off from Priyanka Gandhi’s birthday, the big question remains: will this 100-day action plan pave the way for Congress’s return to power in Uttar Pradesh, or will the BJP’s fortress continue to remain unbreached?
