Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta today condemned the alleged insult heaped on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's late mother in a purported video that went viral on the internet, and charged opposition Congress and the Rashtriya Janata Dal with having a "distorted mentality".

In the video, a man is seen using derogatory words against the PM and his late mother, during an opposition rally in poll-bound Bihar's Darbhanga.

Taking to social media, Gupta criticised the opposition parties over the alleged incident, and stated, "Insulting any mother on the sacred land of Ma Sita is intolerable. And when derogatory words are spoken against the mother of the country's Prime Minister, it is not just the murder of politics, but also of our values, " she added.

Sharpening her attack, Gupta further expressed, " This is not the thinking of Congress-RJD, but rather an introduction to their distorted mentality."

The Delhi CM said, only someone who has no connection whatsoever with "mother earth" or "mother India" can insult the word 'mother'.

Gupta further accused them of crossing the boundaries of dignity, decency and culture, and added that the entire country clearly rejects such kind of politics.

Speaking to the reporters on the sidelines of an event, Gupta stated that this kind of behaviour raises a question mark on the upbringing of such people.

She said whatever has been said is very shameful and the people of Bihar will give a befitting reply to this.

"As a woman, I honestly say that only those people can insult a mother who neither knows the respect of Mother Earth, Mother India, nor the word mother... This is a question mark on upbringing," Gupta said.
