Ghaziabad Woman Slapped Repeatedly While Feeding Stray Dogs, Man Arrested
Yashika Shukla, a resident of Ghaziabad, was feeding stray dogs near an apartment complex in the National Capital Region when the incident occurred.
A disturbing incident unfolded in Ghaziabad on Friday night when a woman feeding stray dogs was slapped multiple times by a man, sparking outrage after a video of the assault went viral on social media.
The woman, Yashika Shukla, a local resident, was feeding the dogs at a designated spot near Brahmaputra Enclave Society in the Vijaynagar area when the incident occurred. In the widely circulated video, the man can be seen walking up to Shukla, who backs away as he approaches. He then slaps her repeatedly — eight times in just 40 seconds — while she asks someone nearby to record the incident. The man, undeterred, says, "Yes, record this."
At one point in the video, the man — identified by police as Kamal Khanna — claims the woman hit him first, although no such action is seen in the footage.
Police later confirmed that Khanna has been taken into custody and a case has been registered against him, according to a report by NDTV.
The assault took place just hours after the Supreme Court modified its earlier order on stray dogs. The court ruled that stray dogs picked up by authorities under its August 11 directive must be released after sterilisation and vaccination — except in cases involving rabid or aggressive animals. A previous ruling had barred their release and warned of contempt proceedings for any violations.
The incident has triggered widespread condemnation, especially among animal rights activists and local residents, many of whom are now calling for stricter action against such violence.
