Scholars, student leaders, and family members reflect on Jain’s ideological legacy, national values, and cultural vision during a tribute meet organized by Campus Corner.
On the occasion of the 18th death anniversary of the late Shri Narendra Jain (Nanda Ji), Campus Corner organized a solemn tribute meeting and a book discussion on his book, "Samar Gatha," a collection of his writings, at Hansraj College (University of Delhi) today. The program aimed to convey the ideological contributions, national vision, and cultural values of the late Shri Narendra Jain to the new generation. The program was presided over by the college's Principal, Professor Rama Ji.
The chief guests included Shri Binay Singh, Director of the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Foundation, Didi Manu Sharma Kataria, National Student Leader of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, Dr. Prashant Arve, Head of the History Department at Ramjas College, Shri Ram Gupta, State Organization Minister of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, and Campus Corner editors Dr. Ankita Chauhan and Dr. Mahendra Prajapati.
As the first speaker, Dr. Prashant Arve presented a historical perspective and highlighted the tradition of Indian bravery through various episodes from "Samar Gatha." He specifically mentioned the struggles of freedom fighter Veer Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, saying that just as other great heroes played a significant role in India's independence, Veer Savarkar's contribution should be given equal respect. He stressed the need to revive the memories of many freedom fighters who have been lost in obscurity.
Manu Sharma Kataria, in his speech, said that "Samar Gatha" is a powerful collection of thoughts written by the late Narendra Jain, edited by Dr. Piyush Jain. He said that the relevance of this book is even greater in today's times because it clearly reveals national character and values with a new interpretation of many historical events. He urged the younger generation to imbibe the ideas contained in this book and play a positive role in social and national life.
Sharing his memories, Mr. Binay Singh emotionally recalled the personality of the late Narendra Jain and his experiences in his family and social life. He explained that in today's times, when the institution of marriage and family are facing numerous threats, Dr. Piyush Jain's compilation of his father's writings and presenting them to society in the form of "Samar Gatha" is a meaningful initiative to preserve family and values. He stated that "a mother's love transcends this world," and that such emotional and value-based writings provide direction for today's society. At the end of the program, Principal Professor Rama Ji paid tribute to the late Narendra Jain's life values, his simplicity, dedication, and ideological commitment, stating that such events instill in students a sense of nationalism, a sense of duty, and respect for cultural roots.
A large number of researchers, students, faculty, and family members of the late Narendra Jain were present. They observed a two-minute silence to pay tribute to Nanda Ji and remembered his thoughts by reciting selected excerpts from "Samar Gatha." Finally, Campus Corner offered a vote of thanks, and resolved to honor the late Narendra Jain. The ideological legacy of thinkers like Narendra Jain will continue to be passed on to future generations through continuous dialogue, writing and research.
