Hindi Students Have Unlimited Opportunities: Harendra Pratap
Relevance of Hindi Fortnight Grows Amid Digital Challenges
Special Report by Manjari
Prayagraj The closing session of the Hindi Fortnight at Chaudhary Mahadev Prasad (CMP) College, a constituent college of Allahabad University, became a powerful call to action for the protection and promotion of the language.
Chief speaker Harendra Pratap Singh, addressing the gathering on "Employment Opportunities in Hindi and the Relevance of Hindi Fortnight," highlighted the expanding career landscape for Hindi graduates. He noted that opportunities are growing across multiple sectors, including media, publishing, government services, and the private sector. At the same time, Singh cautioned that the digital age presents fresh challenges to the Devanagari script. He cited everyday examples—such as casual WhatsApp chats written in Roman characters and ATMs that often fail to offer Hindi options—as clear warning signs of the language's slow erosion.
Dr. Santosh Bhadauria, Head of the Hindi Department at Allahabad University, urged that Hindi’s progress must remain in harmony with all other Indian languages to effectively preserve India’s rich linguistic diversity.
The session, conducted by Dr. G. Ganesan Mishra, also served to celebrate the winners of the various competitions held during the fortnight. Dr. Saroj Singh, Head of the Hindi Department at CMP College, and Dr. Abha Tripathi, In-charge of Rajbhasha, shared their insights on practical steps Hindi can take to remain relevant and vibrant in a multilingual nation.
The successful event drew a large audience of students and faculty, underscoring that the Hindi Fortnight is more than a mere annual ritual—it is an evolving, vital platform to defend the script and widen opportunities for the next generation.
