The 11th edition of the India-Seychelles Joint Military Exercise LAMITIYE 2026, currently underway at the Seychelles Defence Academy, is advancing with a structured programme of tactical drills and professional exchanges designed to deepen bilateral defence cooperation.

Marking a significant milestone, this year's exercise is the first tri-services edition of LAMITIYE, bringing together personnel from the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force alongside the Seychelles Defence Forces (SDF). The expanded format reflects the growing breadth of the strategic partnership between the two nations, with joint training focused on sub-conventional operations in semi-urban environments.

The 13-day exercise has featured a comprehensive mix of combat discussions, lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on tactical drills. The sessions are structured to refine joint operational procedures and facilitate the exchange of best practices between the Indian Armed Forces and the SDF, building interoperability across multiple domains.

Defence sources underlined that LAMITIYE 2026 continues to serve as a vital platform for enhancing mutual preparedness and collective operational readiness — reinforcing India's broader commitment to deepening defence partnerships across the Indian Ocean Region.

India and Seychelles have maintained robust security cooperation for over a decade, with the LAMITIYE series forming a cornerstone of that engagement.
