ITBP Marks 64th Raising Day in Udhampur; MoS Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar, LG Manoj Sinha Join Celebrations
Parade showcases high-altitude capabilities as top officials honour martyrs, commend ITBP’s service on the Indo-China border, and present medals and unit awards.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Saturday attended the 64th Raising Day Celebrations of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) at 15th Battalion in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir.
They interacted with the ITBP personnel and extended greetings on the occasion.
Northern Commander, Army Commander, Prateek Sharma, Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police, Nalin Prabhat and other dignitaries attended the event.
MoS Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar paid tribute to ITBP martyrs, took the ceremonial salute and witnessed the grand Raising Day Parade.
In his address, he extended greetings to all ITBP personnel and commended their exemplary service under extreme Himalayan conditions, highlighting their devotion, dedication, and professionalism in safeguarding the nation.
Meanwhile Director General, ITBP, Praveen Kumar welcomed the Chief Guest and dignitaries.
He highlighted the Force’s significant achievements and emphasised ITBP’s contribution in high-altitude border security, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, internal security and naxal operations, mountaineering excellence and rescue operations.
However, all major contingents of the Force participated in the parade.
Thrilling demonstrations added to the spectacle, including C-SAC drills by women Himveers, integrated drone display, and a martial arts performance.
A total of five personnel received the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service, while 24 officers and personnel were awarded the Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
The best unit awards for the year were to 43 Battalion (Best Border Battalion), 52 Battalion (Best Non-Border Battalion),
27 Battalion (Best ANO Unit), 18 Battalion (Best Clean Battalion), 25 Battalion (Best Green Battalion) and 13 Battalion (Winner, Rajbhasha Chalshield Trophy-2024)
Additional Director General, ITBP, Mukesh Singh delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the dignitaries and reaffirming the Force’s resolve to serve the nation with unwavering dedication and professionalism.
Raised in 1962 in the aftermath of the Indo-China conflict, ITBP guards 3,488 km of the Indo-China border, operating at some of the world’s highest and most inhospitable altitudes.
