Kangana Ranaut says ‘politics is more accepting of older women than the film industry’ as she reflects on the joy of ageing
Kangana Ranaut shared that while she has never feared ageing, her film crew would often panic at the sight of her grey hair on set.;

It’s not unusual for actors to speak out about the lack of meaningful roles for older women in the film industry. Now, Kangana Ranaut has joined that conversation, opening up about ageing and how politics has given her a sense of acceptance she rarely found in cinema.
In a recent Instagram post, the actor-turned-politician shared a series of candid photos, showing off her natural curls, and reflected on the beauty of growing older. “My pilgrim soul never feared ageing,” she wrote, “but when my film crew saw grey hair, they panicked and used mascaras or colour sprays. Happy to be in a place where my ageing face or body doesn’t take anything away from me. Ageing is such a joy.”
Kangana went on to draw a contrast between her experience in the film industry and her current role in politics, saying she now feels more at peace because her appearance no longer defines her. “Do you guys think politics is kinder to older women than movies? I definitely think so,” she wrote. “The most beautiful place in the world is where there is no gap between who you are and how you are perceived.” She also noted that the photos were unfiltered, tagging them with #nofilter #joyofaging and #delhivibes.
Currently serving as the BJP Member of Parliament from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi constituency, Kangana often shares moments from her time in Parliament on social media, offering followers a glimpse into her political journey.
On the film front, Kangana was last seen in Emergency, a political drama she directed and starred in as former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Although her performance was appreciated by fans, the film didn’t perform well at the box office, earning ₹23.75 crore worldwide. The ensemble cast featured notable names like Anupam Kher, Satish Kaushik, Shreyas Talpade, Mahima Chaudhry, and Milind Soman. Emergency is currently streaming on Netflix.
Looking ahead, Kangana is set to make her Hollywood debut in the upcoming horror film Blessed Be The Evil, produced by US-based Lions Movies. She’ll star alongside Teen Wolf actor Tyler Posey and Scarlet Rose Stallone. Filming is scheduled to begin later this year in New York, according to Variety.
