Tight security arrangements have been made for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Mauritian counterpart, Navinchandra Ramgoolam, in Kashi, where they are scheduled to hold bilateral talks, a senior police officer said here.

Police Commissioner Mohit Agarwal said that barricading has been done along the routes of both Prime Ministers. “Besides, 5,000 policemen, 50 gazetted officers, and 15 IPS officers have been deployed for security arrangements tomorrow,” he added.

He said surveillance will be conducted using drone cameras. Apart from this, CCTV cameras installed at various locations will also be monitored, with special attention given to social media activity. Quick Response Teams (QRT) and Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) units will also be deployed, he added.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi’s parliamentary constituency, Varanasi, is all decked out for the visit of the Prime Ministers of Mauritius and India for bilateral talks tomorrow.

While Mauritius PM Navinchandra Ramgoolam is arriving this evening, PM Modi will reach Varanasi tomorrow morning. The bilateral talks will be held at a seven-star hotel.

In view of the proposed visit, Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary-in-Charge/Additional Chief Secretary Deepak Kumar and Director General of Police Rajiv Krishna yesterday reviewed the arrangements at Babatpur Airport. Both officers inspected the venue for the bilateral talks and the Police Line helipad, and issued necessary guidelines to officials.

At the airport, officials inspected the terminal building, apron, and runway turn pad. Divisional Commissioner S. Rajalingam and Police Commissioner Mohit Agarwal shared detailed information regarding the final preparations. They also inspected the helipad at the Reserve Police Line. Afterwards, both officers held a meeting at the Police Line auditorium and discussed key points.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will welcome both Prime Ministers with rose petals at six locations. The Mauritius PM will visit and offer prayers at the Kal Bhairav Temple and the Kashi Vishwanath Temple.

It is likely that he will also watch the Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat from a cruise tomorrow evening.
