Kerala BJP Chief Rajeev Chandrasekhar Accuses CPM Government of Massive Corruption and Media Nexus
Launching a scathing attack on Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Chandrasekhar alleges misuse of public funds, temple-related scams, and protection of corrupt officials and media figures, demanding the resignation of Devaswom Minister Vasavan.
Kerala BJP President Rajeev Chandrasekhar today launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and the ruling CPM, alleging large-scale corruption, misuse of public funds, and a deep nexus between politics, bureaucracy, and sections of the media.
Chandrasekhar claimed that during 10 years of CPM rule, Kerala has witnessed the growth of a "shameless, thriving ecosystem of crooked brokers" embedded in government offices, Devaswom boards, and the media. "Before this government, there were no criminals in the media and integrity mattered. Today, known criminals run some media houses, scam people, and enjoy CPM's protection," he said.
The BJP leader alleged that those who expose corruption are being targeted and silenced through false cases and smear campaigns. "There are criminals in the media. When corruption is exposed, they try to trap us. Legal action will be taken against those spreading falsehoods. Our aim is to politically cleanse Kerala and that includes cleaning up corrupt media brokers," he asserted.
Criticizing what he called the "propaganda politics" of the ruling front, Chandrasekhar accused the Chief Minister of mocking the poor by organizing extravagant government events while thousands of families live in squalid conditions. "Thousands of families in colonies like Rajaji Nagar in Thiruvananthapuram still live in crumbling, leaky homes. Tribal communities in Wayanad continue to face hunger, and ASHA workers struggle for survival. Ten years of CPM rule has brought corruption, temple looting, and neglect," he said.
Chandrasekhar also claimed that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) had unearthed evidence linking Devaswom Minister K. Radhakrishnan Vasavan to the alleged "Sabarimala gold loot scheme." "Yet he remains in office hiding in plain sight protected by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. How can there be a fair probe when the accused minister continues to hold power?" he asked.
"Our mission is clear," Chandrasekhar added. "Those who looted Sabarimala, Guruvayur, and other Hindu temples are criminals and must be jailed. Vasavan must resign immediately, and the Devaswom Board should be dissolved."
Reaffirming the BJP's stand, Chandrasekhar said accountability and integrity would be at the heart of the party's political movement in Kerala. "Accountability is the cornerstone of democracy. Pinarayi Vijayan and his government must answer for ten years of corruption, neglect, and deception," he said.
He further stated that the state government's claim of making Kerala poverty-free was "misleading," adding that "it is actually the Central government's welfare schemes that have lifted people out of poverty."
