Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's troubles are not reducing. Earlier a Lokayukta case was registered against Siddaramaiah in the allegation over MUDA scam, and now the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has registered a case against him. The special court had already issued an order to register a case against Siddaramaiah. After the court order, on Monday, ED registered a case against the Karnataka CM under PMLA.

What is the MUDA case?

In 1992, the Mysore Urban Development Authority had taken some land from farmers to develop it into a residential area. It was denotified and separated from agricultural land. But later in 1998, a part of the acquired land was denotified and returned to the farmers by MUDA. Siddaramaiah's wife Parvati's brother had bought a piece of denotified 3 acres 14 gunta land in 2004. At this time, there was a Congress-JDS coalition government in Karnataka, and Siddaramaiah was the deputy CM in that government.

During this time, the controversial piece of land was denotified again and separated from agricultural land. But, when Siddaramaiah's family went to take ownership of the land, it was found that the layout had already been developed there. After this, the fight for rights with MUDA began. When his family sent the application for the land to Siddaramaiah, he shelved it saying that the beneficiary is his family. That is why he will not take this file forward.

Regarding the matter, Siddaramaiah says that he will fight the MUDA case according to the law. He wrote in a post on ‘X’, “This is the first time that the opposition, scared of the public support with me, has filed a politically motivated case against me.” Siddaramaiah further wrote – “Justice is on my side, I will face it and win.”
