Man Sentenced to Death for Raping 7-Year-Old Girl, Killing Her 5-Year-Old Sister in Shahjahanpur
A special POCSO court pronounced the death penalty for accused Anil alias Chameli, who lured the two sisters to a field in 2021; the court also imposed a fine of ₹1.37 lakh.
A man was awarded the death sentence by a special court in Shahjahanpur district of Uttar Pradesh for raping a seven-year-old girl and murdering her younger sister, prosecution sources said here today.
Prosecution sources said that on February 22, 2021, two sisters, aged seven and five, went to the primary school in a village in the Kant police station area. "During this time, the accused, Anil alias Chameli, lured them with biscuits and honey and took them to a field away from the village. He raped the elder sister and murdered her younger sister," said a prosecution source.
Additional District Magistrate (Administration) Rajneesh Kumar Mishra said a report in the case was lodged at the Kant police station on February 23, 2021.
"When the victim resisted, he attacked her head with a sharp iron instrument, injuring her," he said.
He said when both the girls did not return home after bathing, the family members along with the villagers searched for them in the village and the fields and then the body of the younger sister was found outside the village. The elder sister was lying in a mustard field, and was still breathing.
Mishra said that the case was heard in the court of Special Judge (POCSO) Manoj Kumar Sidhu. He said that on the basis of evidence available on record, the court sentenced the accused Anil to death.
The court ordered that the accused should be hanged till death and a fine of Rs 1.37 lakh was also imposed on the accused.
