Manipur Police Honoured for Bravery and Service on 134th Raising Day

Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla Lauds Force for Tackling Crime, Upholding Peace; Awards Presented for Exemplary Service and Sporting Achievements

Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, commended the courage, professionalism, and selfless service of the Manipur Police, describing them as the guardians of peace and harmony in the State.

Speaking at the 134th Raising Day Parade of the Manipur Police held at the 1st Battalion Manipur Rifles Parade Ground, Imphal, the Governor lauded the force for their tireless efforts in maintaining law and order, tackling organized crime and drug trafficking, and ensuring the safety of citizens even in the most challenging circumstances.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening the police force through improved infrastructure, advanced training, and welfare measures. Highlighting the achievements of the force, the Governor cited successful operations against extremism, the destruction of illegal poppy cultivation, and the progress made in modernization and welfare initiatives.

He also acknowledged the heroism of those who continue to serve with integrity and compassion every day. The Governor congratulated Additional SP Saikhom Mirabai Chanu and Naorem Roshibina Devi for bringing international laurels to the State and the Manipur Police through their remarkable sporting achievements.

Earlier, Governor Bhalla inspected the parade contingents and took salute of the spectacular march past parade led by Dr. Sarangthem Ibomcha Singh, MPS, Commandant, 6th India Reserve Battalion.

The parade featured contingents from various units of the Manipur Police including Manipur Rifles (Male Contingent), India Reserve Battalions (Male), Civil Police (Male and Female), 9th IR (Mahila) Battalion, Traffic Police, Home Guards, and Village Defence Force (Male).

The event was attended by several MLAs, Chief Secretary Dr. Puneet Kumar Goel, Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh, Director General of Police Rajiv Singh, and other senior officers.

Governor Bhalla also distributed trophies and awards to outstanding Police Stations, Battalions, and police personnel for their exemplary service, bravery, and dedication to duty.

The programme concluded with a skill show presented by the Manipur Police Sports Club, marking a proud celebration of valour, discipline, and the enduring motto of the Manipur Police — “Service Before Self.”
