Modi Slams Mamata Government Over 'Politics Over Development' in West Bengal
The Prime Minister further alleged that the TMC government has delayed 16 major infrastructure projects in West Bengal, which, he said, were scheduled for completion last year.;

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a sharp attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her Trinamool Congress (TMC) government during his visit to the state on Thursday, accusing them of prioritising politics over public welfare and stalling key development projects.
Addressing a public gathering, Modi criticised the TMC leadership for skipping the recent NITI Aayog meeting in Delhi, suggesting it reflected a lack of commitment to the state’s progress. "TMC only wants to do politics 24 hours a day," he said. "They are not concerned about the development of West Bengal or the progress of the country. Even the central government’s welfare schemes are not being properly implemented here."
He alleged that the state government had delayed 16 major infrastructure projects that should have been completed last year. Modi also accused the TMC of being indifferent—if not outright hostile—towards marginalised communities.
"The TMC government is stalling the development of poor and tribal communities," he said. "When the NDA made a tribal woman its Presidential candidate for the first time in history, TMC was the first to oppose it. That shows their lack of respect for tribal communities."
Modi also claimed that people in West Bengal were being denied benefits of key central schemes like Ayushman Bharat, which provides health insurance for the poor. "The ruthless government here didn’t allow Ayushman cards to be issued to the people. Many poor families are still without permanent homes because TMC leaders are demanding cuts and commissions," he alleged.
Modi’s remarks come amid rising political tensions in the state, as both the Centre and the state gear up for the next round of elections.
