Punjab Health Minister Dr Balbir Singh on Monday announced that the Punjab government’s Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana, which provides cashless medical treatment up to ₹10 lakh, will be formally launched on the 22nd, reiterating that the scheme fulfils the commitment made by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal to ensure quality healthcare for every citizen without any financial burden.

Addressing a press conference at the AAP office in Chandigarh, Punjab Health Minister Dr Balbir Singh made it clear that the scheme is entirely free and that the government itself is taking responsibility for reaching every household. Emphasising zero tolerance towards fraud or exploitation, he said, “The government is providing health cards completely free of cost and will deliver them door to door. Anyone who makes fake health cards or charges people in the name of this scheme has already been arrested by the Bhagwant Mann government, and if anyone else attempts this, they will also be arrested.”

The Health Minister said the entire cost of the scheme, from the preparation of health cards to medical treatment, will be borne by the government, and no individual or agency is permitted to charge even a single rupee at any stage.

Referring to complaints received from Muktsar and Mansa, Minister Dr Balbir Singh said the government has already taken strict action where some individuals were illegally charging ₹50 for making health cards. He stated that both individuals have been suspended, their licenses cancelled, and FIRs registered against them, making it clear that such practices will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Explaining the enrollment process, the Health Minister said youth club volunteers will go door to door to distribute tokens. Citizens will have to visit designated centres with the token, along with their Aadhaar card and voter ID, to get their health cards made completely free of cost.

Reiterating the government’s resolve, Minister Dr Balbir Singh said the Mann government is committed to transparent, people-centric healthcare and warned that strict action will continue against anyone trying to cheat citizens in the name of welfare schemes.
