Mumbai Police Receive Terror Threat Claiming 34 Bombs, 400 kg RDX, and 14 Pakistani Terrorists in India
The message sent to the Mumbai Traffic Police's WhatsApp claimed that 14 Pakistani terrorists had entered India and warned that 400 kilograms of RDX would be used in the planned blasts.
Mumbai Police and the city’s traffic control room were on high alert Friday after receiving a chilling message on WhatsApp. The threat claimed that 34 “human bombs” had been planted inside 34 vehicles across the city, warning of blasts powerful enough to "shake the entire Mumbai."
The message, allegedly sent by a group calling itself Lashkar-e-Jihadi, also stated that 14 Pakistani terrorists had entered India and that 400 kilograms of RDX would be used in the attack.
Authorities are taking the threat seriously. “Mumbai Police is alert and security across the state has been enhanced,” police officials confirmed in a statement. “All aspects of the threat are under investigation.”
This latest scare comes just days after a hoax bomb threat targeting Kalwa railway station in Thane district. A 43-year-old man, Rupesh Madhukar Ranpise, was arrested after allegedly making the call while drunk. According to police, he made the call around 4 PM on Sunday and was incoherent during the conversation.
It’s not the first time such threats have surfaced. Last year in September, similar inputs were received about a potential terror attack in Mumbai, prompting religious sites like the Siddhivinayak Temple to tighten security. “We were asked by the Mumbai Police to enhance security and stay vigilant,” said Sada Sarvankar, chairman of the Siddhivinayak Temple Trust, at the time.
Following this latest threat, police have ramped up security across key locations in the city, and mock drills at sensitive spots are expected to be conducted again.
