More than 45 schools across Delhi received bomb threats via email on Friday — the fourth such incident this week — sparking concern among parents and prompting many to keep their children at home. While all the threats were later declared hoaxes after thorough security checks, the growing frequency has left families on edge.

Most schools stayed open and operated with caution, but many parents chose not to take chances.

“I didn’t send my son today. It’s not panic, but after so many incidents, it just feels safer to wait it out,” said Parmita Sharma, whose child attends Richmond School in Paschim Vihar, speaking to PTI.

Vikram Singh, a parent at Sovereign School in Rohini, shared similar concerns. “Even if there’s no real danger, these emails disturb our peace of mind. We discussed it in our parent group, and a lot of us agreed to skip school for the day.”

Sovereign School was among the institutions that received one of the threatening emails. After a police check, the school resumed regular classes.

“We informed the authorities as soon as we got the email. The building was cleared after a full inspection, and we’re conducting classes as usual,” said school chairperson RK Jindal. “We’d done emergency drills earlier this year, which helped us stay calm and respond quickly.”

While some schools like Sovereign resumed normal operations, others took extra precautions. Maxfort Junior School in Pitampura and Cambridge Foundation School in Rajouri Garden carried out partial evacuations and exercised heightened security measures for students already on campus.

Bomb squads, fire services, and Delhi Police teams inspected all affected schools across various neighborhoods, including Dwarka, Rohini, Vasant Vihar, Janakpuri, and East of Kailash.

“All the threats have been confirmed as hoaxes after thorough checks,” a senior police officer said, adding that investigations are ongoing to identify those behind the emails.
