PM Modi Responds to Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar’s Sudden Resignation
Jagdeep Dhankhar’s unexpected resignation, PM extends wishes for his good health;

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday responded to the unexpected resignation of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, offering his best wishes and acknowledging Dhankhar’s years of service to the country.
“Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar Ji has had the opportunity to serve the nation in several important roles, including as Vice President of India. Wishing him good health,” the Prime Minister wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
Dhankhar, 74, stepped down on Sunday, citing medical reasons. In his resignation letter to President Droupadi Murmu, he wrote, “To prioritise health care and abide by medical advice, I hereby resign as Vice President of India, effective immediately, in accordance with Article 67(a) of the Constitution.”
His resignation brings an abrupt end to a term that began in August 2022 and was supposed to last until 2027. Alongside his duties as Vice President, Dhankhar also served as the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha.
The timing of his departure—on the very first day of Parliament’s Monsoon Session—has stirred speculation in political and media circles. However, his letter did not provide any further details about his health.
