Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday reiterated that the welfare of the poor and middle class remains a top priority for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), while addressing an election rally at Gogamukh in Assam.

Highlighting the party’s development agenda, he said the BJP has consistently focused on strengthening infrastructure, improving education, and enhancing healthcare services to ensure inclusive growth. The Prime Minister noted that Assam has witnessed significant progress over the past ten years under the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government.

Referring to the concept of a “double engine” government, he stated that coordinated efforts between the Centre and the state have contributed to lasting peace in Assam. He added that many youths in the state have moved away from violence and are now working towards building a more secure future.

Emphasising Assam’s global identity, the Prime Minister said the state is already known worldwide for its tea industry and will soon gain recognition in the semiconductor sector. He pointed to the upcoming semiconductor plant in Morigaon as a key step in this direction.

Discussing the BJP’s election manifesto released earlier, Mr. Modi said it includes commitments to major investments in infrastructure, job creation, and education. He highlighted the promise of providing free education from kindergarten to postgraduate level as part of the party’s vision.

He also stated that the party aims to implement a Uniform Civil Code, asserting that it would help safeguard the cultural and traditional identity of tribal communities in the state.

Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister interacted with tea garden workers in Dibrugarh during his visit.
