"Through dedication and the power of education, he rose to occupy the highest constitutional office in the country. His academic brilliance, she said, reflected how determination and opportunity can lead to great achievements when guided by purpose."

Recalling his distinguished career, the President said Narayanan served with distinction in the Indian Foreign Service before entering politics, upholding India’s values of peace, justice, and cooperation with sincerity.

Later, he was elected to Parliament, served as union Minister, Vice-President, and eventually as President of India. She said he always remained committed to fairness, inclusion and democratic values. Highlighting his deep bond with Kerala, President Murmu said Narayanan drew inspiration from the state’s emphasis on education, social progress and inclusivity.

Even after reaching the highest office, he stayed rooted in his origins and continued to stress the importance of education in human and national development. For him, she said, education was not a privilege for a few but a right for all.

The President said Narayanan believed human values were fundamental to the growth of civilisation and the progress of society. “As our nation moves ahead to achieve the goal of Viksit Bharat, it is essential to ensure that all citizens, especially the weakest and most marginalised, get equal opportunities to realise their dreams,” she added. President Murmu said K R Narayanan left behind a rich legacy of morality, integrity, compassion and democratic spirit. “As we remember him today, let us draw inspiration from his life dedicated to nation-building, and work towards creating a more inclusive, just and compassionate India,” she said.
