Punjab has become the first state in India to provide over 55,000 government jobs to youth within the first three years of the AAP administration, announced Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann here today.

Under ‘Mission Rozgar,’ the state government has prioritised empowering young people through merit-based employment, marking a significant departure from the practices of previous regimes.

Speaking at an event where 271 newly recruited youth received their appointment letters, CM Mann criticised past governments for offering limited jobs only at the end of their tenures.

“From my first day in office, I ensured that deserving youth get opportunities. These 55,000 jobs reflect our commitment to transparent, merit-based recruitment,” he said. The Chief Minister emphasised that these appointments, made through a competitive and transparent process, are a testament to the calibre of Punjab’s youth.

Mann urged the recruits to serve with dedication, contributing to the state’s socio-economic progress and prioritising the welfare of underprivileged communities. He highlighted that the government’s focus is on empowering youth to transform their futures and drive Punjab’s development.

The Chief Minister slammed traditional political leaders for neglecting Punjab’s interests for personal gain. He pointed out that previous administrations overlooked government schools, which were reduced to mere mid-day meal centres, while their children studied in elite institutions.

In contrast, Mann’s government has upgraded schools into ‘Schools of Eminence,’ achieving top rankings in the National Achievement Survey, surpassing even Kerala. Notably, 848 government school students cleared NEET, 265 passed JEE Mains, and 45 qualified for JEE Advanced, showcasing the state’s focus on quality education.

Mann emphasised that education, not temporary benefits, is the key to eradicating poverty and uplifting living standards. He credited the state’s clear intent and commitment for driving unprecedented progress in education, health, power, and employment sectors over the past three years.

Rejecting the self-serving politics of the past, Mann stated that his party was compelled to enter politics to address the exploitation of Punjab’s resources.

He accused former leaders of ignoring public welfare, while his administration works tirelessly based on people’s feedback to ensure holistic development. “We are leaving no stone unturned to safeguard Punjab’s interests and make its people active partners in progress,” he added
