Rahul Gandhi Gifts New Bicycle to Flood-Hit Punjab Boy
Congress leader fulfills child’s wish in Amritsar village after his cycle was destroyed in recent floods
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has won hearts with a heartfelt gesture, fulfilling the wish of a young boy from Ghonewal village in Amritsar, Punjab, by gifting him a new bicycle. The boy's old bicycle was destroyed in the recent floods.
The incident occurred during Gandhi's visit to the flood-affected areas of Punjab on September 15. He had toured regions in Amritsar, including Ramdas, Ajnala, and Gurdaspur's Dera Baba Nanak and Dina Nagar.
During his visit to Ghonewal village, Gandhi met a family devastated by the floods. A young boy from the family, emotional about his loss, shared that his bicycle was damaged in the disaster. Moved by the child's story, Gandhi comforted him, asked to see the broken bicycle, and promised his team would address the boy's loss.
Today, Gandhi's team, accompanied by local Congress leaders, returned to the village and presented the boy with a new bicycle tailored to his size. The child joyfully rode the bicycle and expressed his gratitude, saying, "Thank you, Rahul Gandhi ji."
In a heartwarming moment, Congress leaders arranged a video call, allowing the boy and his family to personally thank Gandhi for his kindness.
The boy's family expressed deep appreciation, with his mother recalling how the floods had buried both the boy's bicycle and his father's bike under debris. During Gandhi's earlier visit, he had reassured the boy, "Don't cry, you are the bravest," while embracing him and listening to the family's struggles.
The Punjab Congress hailed the gesture, stating, "This is the shop of love, where leaders and people connect heart-to-heart. This is Rahul Gandhi's identity."
The gesture underscores Gandhi's commitment to connecting with people on a personal level, bringing a moment of joy to a family recovering from the devastation of the floods.
