Rahul Gandhi Rallies Gen Z on Democracy, BJP Warns of 'Nepal-Style Fallout'
Taking a swipe at Rahul Gandhi over his Gen Z remarks, the BJP warned him to “be ready to leave the country,” hinting at a Nepal-style political upheaval.
Congress leader and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Thursday intensified his allegations of voter fraud, claiming that India’s youth — particularly Gen Z — will be at the forefront of defending the Constitution and protecting democracy. His comments came during a press conference where he accused unnamed actors of mass voter deletions ahead of the elections and demanded answers from Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Following the press conference, Gandhi took to X (formerly Twitter), writing, “The nation's youth, the nation's students, the nation's Gen Z, will defend the Constitution, protect democracy, and stop vote theft. I always stand with them. Jai Hind!”
The remarks quickly drew a sharp response from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), with party MP Nishikant Dubey accusing Gandhi of promoting dynastic politics while invoking youth uprisings in Nepal and Bangladesh.
“Gen Z is against family politics. Why would they tolerate Rahul Gandhi after Nehru, Indira, Rajiv, and Sonia?” Dubey posted on X. He further claimed that today’s youth are against corruption and would reject parties like Congress.
In a follow-up interview with ANI, Dubey alleged that Gandhi was trying to provoke civil unrest in the country. He referenced past protests such as the 2011 anti-corruption movement and the 2013 Nirbhaya protests, attributing them to India’s youth power — but insisted the BJP had never attempted to weaponize those moments politically.
“Rahul Gandhi wants to associate himself with the Gen Z protests in Nepal and Bangladesh, which were against dynastic politics and corruption. In India, Congress has been the symbol of both,” Dubey said.
He also accused Gandhi of working with foreign organizations like the Soros Foundation to destabilize India, warning that “if Gen Z demands a Hindu Rashtra, what will Congress do then?”
The BJP maintains that it stands with India’s youth and reform agenda, while branding Congress and its allies as outdated and rooted in nepotism.
