Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) spokesperson Rakesh Tikait on Wednesday alleged that Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar didn’t resign voluntarily but was pressured to step down by a government increasingly influenced by corporate interests.

Speaking to reporters at his camp office, Tikait claimed that Dhankhar had long been a vocal supporter of rural India, farmers, and the poor—stances that, according to him, do not align with the current political environment.

“No medical reason was mentioned when he resigned. Dhankhar has consistently spoken out for villages and the farming community. But this government only promotes the interests of capitalists. Anyone who stands with the poor and the rural population is being pushed out,” Tikait said.

He went further to accuse corporate forces of hijacking political parties and government institutions. “The Vice-President has become a casualty of a political system dominated by internal party issues and external capitalist pressures. Even villagers believe he was made to resign,” he added.

Without naming any specific political party, Tikait issued a pointed warning to young leaders. “Those under 50 who compromise or align themselves with this party will end up like Dushyant Chautala. Those above 50 will be sidelined like Satya Pal Malik or Jagdeep Dhankhar. Sooner or later, someone else will be next,” he said.

Tikait’s remarks come amid a wave of speculation surrounding Dhankhar’s unexpected resignation, which cited health reasons but has raised eyebrows across the political spectrum.
