External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is set to visit Singapore and China from July 13 to 15 for bilateral talks and to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) foreign ministers’ meeting, the External Affairs Ministry announced on Saturday.

Jaishankar will first travel to Singapore, where he will meet his counterpart Vivian Balakrishnan and other leaders as part of ongoing diplomatic exchanges.

After Singapore, he will head to Tianjin, China, to participate in the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers’ Meeting. Alongside the meeting, Jaishankar is expected to hold bilateral talks, including with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi. These discussions are seen as part of ongoing efforts to normalize India-China relations after the four-year military standoff along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh, which ended in October last year.

The SCO foreign ministers’ meeting is a key step in preparing for the upcoming SCO Summit, likely scheduled for late August or early September. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also expected to attend the summit in China.
