Smriti Mandhana and Palash Muchhal Call Off Wedding, Appeal for Privacy Amid Rumours
Both the cricket star and the music composer issue heartfelt statements clarifying their decision, urging the public to stop spreading unverified claims and allow their families space to heal and move forward.
India women’s cricket vice-captain Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palash Muchhal have both confirmed that their wedding has been called off, finally putting an end to the growing speculation around their relationship.
Mandhana, in a brief but heartfelt Instagram note, said she felt it was necessary to speak up. “I am a very private person… but I need to clarify that the wedding is called off,” she wrote. Asking fans and the media to respect the privacy of both families, she added that her focus remains on cricket and continuing to represent India at the highest level. “I hope to keep playing and winning for the country for as long as possible,” she said, thanking supporters for standing by her.
Palash Muchhal also took to Instagram, sharing an emotional message of his own. Without naming anyone, he addressed the rumours and allegations floating around online, calling them “baseless and defamatory.” He said this has been one of the most difficult phases of his life and urged people to stop spreading unverified gossip. “Our words can wound in ways we may never understand,” he wrote, adding that his team would consider legal action against those circulating false claims.
The couple had been preparing for a November 24 wedding, which was first postponed after Mandhana’s father fell ill and was hospitalised on the day of the ceremony. Palash too was later admitted due to stress, deepening concerns among those close to them.
With both of them now confirming the decision to call off the wedding, they have asked for time and space to move on. Their messages share a clear, common sentiment: empathy, privacy and dignity matter—even more so during moments of personal heartbreak.
